Angela Maria Iovino, Ph.D.   Cultural Study Abroad, 1995

“After 25 years of world travel, teaching and painting, my goal is to share with curious travelers the enriching experience of cultural study abroad, offering specialized journeys with the best seminar experts.”

Dr. Iovino’s appreciation of cultural diversity began at home: born in Brooklyn, New York to parents who emigrated from Sorrento, Italy. She earned a BA in Italian and Spanish Studies at Brooklyn College and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Italian Medieval Literature at Indiana University. Angela has taught European Studies for 25 years and currently teaches at Georgetown University.  She has taught Medieval and Renaissance Italian Studies,  Modern Italian Film and Literature, Comparative Cultures: Asian and European, and Modern History of Italy. Angela also raised 35 million dollars for academic excellence at GWU.  She has lived in China, France, Italy, and Spain and speaks the languages of those countries.  Angela has written on Giovanni Boccaccio, Federico Fellini, and Dante Alighieri for professional journals.  She has received many awards for her teaching and research from the US Federal Government, the  People’s Republic of China  and from several universities. Angela will have a solo exhibit on May 21, 2010 at the Parish Gallery in Georgetown, Washington DC.
