Artist in Residence Scott Hutchison – http://www.scotthutchison.com/
Scott graduated from Drake University earning a B.F.A.in Painting and from George Washington University earning an M.F.A. in Painting. He currently teaches painting at Georgetown University, drawing at George Washington University in Washington DC, and both painting and drawing at the Art League in Virginia. Scott’s studio is located at the Arlington Art Center in Arlington Virginia.
English Literature – Lillian Bisson, Ph.D.
For 30 years, Dr. Bisson has been teaching Medieval Literature, the classics of the Western Civilization, and seminars on Dante, Chaucer, and Shakespeare. She has published numerous articles on medieval poetry and prose and a book on Chaucer. Dr. Bisson has taught the lessons of Jane Austen’s novels to generations. She has also influenced many young scholars as they wrote their theses. Lillian is a globtrotter and adventurer.
Art History – Beth S. Gersh-Nešić, Ph.D.
Dr. Gersh-Nešić specializes in Twentieth-Century Painting however, her research has deciphered the genius of Picasso, 14th -Century Italian Paintings, Seventeenth Century Portraiture, and the cubism of André Salmon. She is Director of the widely-read websites: New York Arts Art Critic and About.com: Art History. Beth has worked on many museum exhibits including The Bannister Gallery, New York University’s Grey Gallery, The Cloisters at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Brooklyn Museum. As an Art Consultant she also provides expertise to art galleries and museums. Beth has written numerous articles and books, curated shows and led museum tours. Beth is known to a large group of New York museum aficionados because she generously introduces art lovers to the full personal and professional history of artists. To visit the Louvre, the MET, or any smaller museum with Beth is to enter another world, the world beyond the canvas, into the heart and mind of the painter.
Music, Opera, and Ballet – Jean Kellogg of George Mason University
Jean is the Executive Director of the Hylton Performing Arts Center at George Mason University in Manassas, Virginia where she creates musical events for the greater public by engaging the best artists. Prior to Mason, Ms. Kellogg was the Director of Education at Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Dean of the Levine School of Music in Washington, D.C. She has a Bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Florida State University and a Master’s degree in piano accompaniment and chamber music from Westminster Choir College. Jean has produced numerous cds annotating operas and ballets and has been a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts, Opera America conferences, and the Children’s International Film Festival, and adjudicator for the Metropolitan Opera auditions.
European History and Literature – Angela Iovino, Ph.D.
Founder of CSA, college professor, and world-traveler, received her Ph.D. in Medieval Italian Studies at Indiana University, Bloomington. She has taught Medieval and Modern European history and literature at Georgetown University and George Washington University in Washington DC, China, and Europe. Angela is also an artist and is represented by the Parish Gallery in Washington DC. CSA was established in 1996 to benefit the curious traveler.
